My letter to Preston Automotive

I had a bad experience at Preston Automotive on Feb.9,2008 and I sent them this letter in an email and I wasn't sure it went through so I printed it up and sent them a hard copy. To this day I haven't heard from them. I am not looking for them to give me any special deal or something. All I want from them is an appology that something like that would go on in their establishment.

I would like someone to know how displeased I was at my experience at your establishment. It all started Monday morning when I called for a 2000 cougar I saw online I was transferred and a guy picked up and told me that the guy I needed to speak to was on the other line and could he call me back, I gave him my information and never received a phone call. I called back Wednesday afternoon and was told by the receptionist that he was off I told her I had been waiting for a phone call since Monday and she promptly found someone to help me. Mark Thursby was a great help on the phone. I told him what I could spend and he could do that for me, and with the engine warranty I thought it was a great offer. Until I started asking questions like if something goes wrong do I have to pay to get it towed there and found out that the warranty was no good unless I have all my maintenance work done there, well seeing as how I live 2 hours away then your warranty is really no good to me. I had decided to look at some other cougars I saw online when I saw yours and Mr. Thursby called me back to tell me that you were having a big sale this weekend and that he could get me that car for $3200.00 even offered to meet me with the car so I didn't have to drive so far. I agreed then I found out that he was going to meet me then take my money and go back and do the paperwork and then deliver me the car. So I said no I will just come and get it. I am not going to give someone almost $4000.00 cash and not get what I am paying for. So I get up at 6am this morning and drive the 2 hours to get the car. We get there and test drive it decide yes it is what we are looking for. We go in and start on the paperwork, everyone is happy. Until he goes to get it approved.( Why is he getting something approved he told me was good? ) Then another guy comes in and says that the $4500.00 with tax and tags we originally discussed on the phone was pushing what he could sell the car for. I told him that Mr. Thursby told me on the phone $3200.00 and he said I know you offered $3200.00 but they couldn't do it. ( I NEVER offered $3200.00 it was offered to me.) Then he left to talk to Mr. Thursby about where he came up with that number. When they came back they told me I misunderstood on the phone he said " What if I could give it to you for $3200.00" Now I am not stupid I know full well what he said and not once did he say " what if " He talked about the sale and how you had to get rid of cars and that he wouldn't make much money but he was here to sell cars. If he had said " what if " I would have said why don't you find out BEFORE I drive 2hours to WASTE my time and money coming out there. So they say can't we negotiate on the $3200.00 and I said no and told them I was pissed ( yes actual word SORRY I was mad ) that I had to come out there for nothing. Yes I could have spent a little more money but I don't like being lied to or treated like I am stupid and MISUNDERSTAND information that is given to me, or to be misled by information. You know the funny thing is that my son will be driving next year and I had told my dad while we were sitting in there waiting that we would come there because how much they worked with me and he told me that his boss was looking for a brand new Ford F-250 four wheel drive mega cab diesel truck and he was going to get a card for him because it was the most a car dealer had done to help someone. My advise to Mr. Thursby is that honesty and a mans word is MORE IMPORTANT than any sale, If you THINK, or ARE NOT sure if you can sell a car at a certain price you should find out BEFORE you give the quote!! Now my daughter is upset and my search continues.
Thank You,Kristin Hoffman

Brynee, my first born, she is my beautifull cheerleader. She makes me so proud, she works really hard and will work on something until she gets it right. For instance, she taught herself how to tumble, you know like back handsprings and things like that. She is an honor roll student. But, she is very spoiled ( I did it, and boy am I paying for it! lol! )

Anthony, my oldest son, is very outgoing, caring, and lovable. He always puts people before himself. He is very athletic, I think he will go far playing sports. If he can stay on top of his school work and stop trying to show off for all the girls. The girls love him and he thinks he is God's gift to them.

Lindsey, she is my step-daughter, I love her as if she was my own!! She is quiet and shy, untill you get to know her and then you will find she is just a silly girl. We have our own band ( it is guitar hero ) and we are good!! She loves to sing too ( rock band ) I think she is going to be a lead singer in a band!!

Brian, he is my youngest, he is so smart. He is always asking questions about everything, always making up stories!! I think he is going to be the next Tony Hawk!!
